WHAT IS SCULPTRA?

Sculptra is an injectable treatment that stimulates your body's own collagen production. Unlike dermal filler, which fills areas directly, Sculptra works gradually to restore lost volume, improve skin firmness and soften lines over time.

It doesn't add contour or change the shape of your face. Instead, it replaces the volume you've lost in recent years, giving natural-looking but noticeable results.


HOW DOES IT WORK?

As we age, we lose collagen, which leads to volume loss, sagging and deeper lines. Sculptra targets this underlying cause by encouraging your skin to rebuild its own collagen over a course of treatments. Because the results come from your own collagen, they look and feel natural and are long-lasting.


WHERE CAN IT BE USED?

Face:
Upper face – temples
Middle face – cheeks, and the lines between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds)
Lower face – marionette lines, the pre-jowl area and the jawline

Body:
Neck, décolletage (chest), upper arms, knees and inner thighs

Sculptra is not suitable for the area between the brows, forehead lines or lips.


WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

Sculptra is ideal for anyone with age-related volume loss, skin laxity or deeper facial folds. A consultation is essential to assess your suitability. It may not be suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection in the treatment area, or have certain medical conditions, which we'll discuss with you.


HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Treatment is usually a course of three sessions, six weeks apart. The number of vials you need will be confirmed at your consultation. As a rough guide, many patients need around one vial for each decade of their life (for example, a 45-year-old may need around four vials). Up to two vials can be used per session.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

You may notice some fullness straight after treatment, but this is due to the fluid in the product and will settle within a few days. The real results develop gradually as your collagen rebuilds, with the full effect visible after three to six months.

Results can last up to two years. Top-up treatments can help maintain your collagen levels and extend your results.


IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?

You may experience mild swelling, redness or bruising for a few days. Most patients return to their normal activities the next day. Occasionally small lumps can form under the skin, and following the massage routine below helps reduce this risk.


AFTERCARE – THE 5-5-5 RULE

After treatment, you must massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. This helps spread the product evenly and is essential for the best results.


CAN I HAVE OTHER TREATMENTS?

Anti-wrinkle injections and chemical peels are fine during your Sculptra course. We recommend avoiding dermal filler and laser or energy-based treatments for three to six months while your collagen builds. Sculptra can form part of a wider treatment plan, and we'll help you time any other treatments correctly.
